Hengissä ollaan / Still alive

Lasten leiri meni hyvin.

The week passed very quickly here in the "North." It's incredible how bright the nights are! If a morning is sunny, I wake up around four thinking it must already be time to get up... The light is about the same as we have it earliest around eight o'clock.

The children retreat was good. Obviously there was plenty of noise and action with the total of 76 kids. Fortunately we had many teachers and helpers around as well. Each one of us had enough to do, but nobody seemed to get too tired. The atmosphere was good, the kids were able to focus during the lessons and everyone made many new friends. It felt good to finish the retreat yesterday knowing that everything went so well.

In the last evening meeting I got to pray for two kids who wanted to give their lives to the Lord. It felt very special, especially since in my usual ministry I don't get to do it that much. Lately I have often been thinking that we should focus much more on the core of the Gospel. The suffering and crucifixion of Christ and repentance - that's the whole point in a nutshell, short and simple. All the other things are sort of side products compared to that transforming message.
